How do we get to where we want to go in life? How do we achieve our goals? How do we actualise our ambitions? I’ve set myself a few targets and these questions run deep for me at the moment, I’m out for the bullseye, I’m going for gold.

Harvesting a vision– creating a picture, a vision, of something you want to see as an improvement in your personal or professional life is said to be a critical early step in getting there. Yet that alone is not enough. I read last week that to make that new vision a future reality it must become a more dominant picture and stronger than the current reality. This crystallised for me the importance of having big aspirations and that often it is we that are the one’s that place the limitations on ourselves.

It seems the power of our heart plays an all important part in our ability to transcend our lesser selves- the voice that tells us we are not good enough, that we don’t deserve the joy we seek, to the higher self- the one that awakens us to our true greatness and all that makes us unique and extraordinary.

I’ve had a few setbacks over the past few years and fallen victim to seeing myself as a failure. That my dreams have been beyond reach. I realise that a lot of this negativity has been caused by dwelling on past experiences and that this has brought about a lot of unnecessary suffering. I have learnt that by setting this aside my heart has felt revitalised and I’ve rejuvenated that bare boned enthusiasm and joy for living. Getting caught up in what no longer existed constricted my ability to free myself up to the bigger picture; to enable a greater and more dynamic sense of self.

Leading from the heart adds motivation and heightens our life state. Following what we truly desire and not over analysing our situations facilitate our ability to attract the correct environment. If we paint a picture that resonates from the deep seat of our hearts then this painting becomes the design for the future and it enables us to to execute a wonderful masterpiece in accordance to that design.

Self belief is all. Often we have to strive to achieve this from nothing. ‘As though to make fire from damp wood, or to obtain water from parched ground’. However if we strive with a commitment, if we focus ourselves on victory then that dedication is surely the key to unlocking the door to success.
